Industrial natural gas engines for sale.
Gas engines on their own for a repower, and natural gas generator packages listed by the engine inside. Everything is sold from our Red Deer yard and quoted unit by unit.
The useful question is not only which engine, but whether it suits the gas you have. We will help you check that before you buy.

This list is pulled from the inventory whenever the page refreshes. Each card links to the full listing with the make, displacement and rating that listing gives.
Natural gas packages, by engine.
Gas and dual-fuel generator sets for sale whose listings name the engine, largest first. Buying the engine already coupled to an alternator and controls takes the install work off your plate.

Want a new set? The NPI Series is built in Red Deer at 170, 250 and 350 kW for natural gas or propane. For every gas set sorted by size, see natural gas generators for sale.
What is coming down the fuel line?
Two identical engines can perform very differently on two different gas supplies. Tell us which of these you have, and include a gas analysis if one exists.
Pipeline gas
Treated, consistent and what most spark-ignited engines are set up for out of the box. If the site has a utility gas service, start by asking whether the meter and regulator can supply the engine's full-load flow at the pressure it needs.
Field or wellhead gas
Richer in heavier hydrocarbons, wetter, and sometimes sour. It can run an engine well, but timing, fuel system and filtration have to be set for it. Hydrogen sulphide in particular shortens oil life and attacks engine internals.
Propane
Many gas engines can run on propane vapour with the right fuel train and timing. It is common where there is no gas service. Confirm the conversion before buying instead of assuming it.
Measure before you swap.
A gas long block going into existing equipment has to fit more than the engine bay. Check these against the engine coming out and send us what you find.
Ask what ships with the unit, too. A long block is not a turnkey engine, and the parts list decides how much work the install is. Our broader engines for sale page covers long blocks against complete packages.
- Fit
- Mounting points, overall length and height, and where the exhaust and intake land relative to the old engine.
- Drive
- Rotation, flywheel and bellhousing size, and how the engine couples to what it drives.
- Cooling
- Whether the existing radiator and fan can reject the heat of the replacement at full load.
- Controls and ignition
- How the new engine is started, governed and shut down, and whether the existing panel can do it.
- Fuel train
- Regulator, valves and mixer sized for the new engine's flow and your gas pressure.
- Altitude and fuel derate
- Gas engines lose output with elevation, heat and lower-energy gas. Size from the derated figure, not the brochure rating.
Buying a natural gas engine.
Which industrial natural gas engines do you have for sale?
The engines and gas generator packages listed on this page are read from the live inventory, so what you see is what is currently for sale. When a unit sells it drops off. If nothing on the list fits, phone (403) 887-4567 about units due in.
Can a natural gas engine run on field gas?
Often, yes, but it depends on the gas. Send a gas analysis if you have one, or at least whether the gas is sweet or sour and how wet it is. The engine's fuel system, timing and filtration need to suit it, and the output will usually be lower than on pipeline gas.
Should I buy a long block or a complete natural gas generator?
A long block makes sense when the frame, alternator and controls you already own are worth keeping and the engine is worn out. A package makes sense when you need power on a site with no working generator to put an engine into. Engines for sale explains the difference in more detail.
Are generator packages tested before they leave?
Generator sets are load tested in Red Deer before they go out. Ask to see the results for the unit you are buying, including how it held voltage and frequency under load.
Do you build new natural gas generator packages?
Yes. The NPI Series is built in Red Deer in 170, 250 and 350 kW sizes for natural gas or propane, and it is ready to run in parallel. If none of the listed units fits, a new package can be quoted.
Why are prices not listed?
Every engine and package gets its own quote. Hours, condition, how it is configured and what ships with it all move the number, so name the listing you are interested in.
Tell us the gas and the job.
Send the fuel you have, the horsepower or kilowatts you need, and the engine you are replacing if there is one. We will say which unit fits, or that none of them does.
