Generator repair in Red Deer.
The shop that builds and services our own generators is on Queensgate Crescent. When your set fails, the diagnosis, the parts and a rental to cover the gap are all in town.
NexSource Power repairs commercial and industrial diesel and natural gas generators across Red Deer and Central Alberta, on site or in the shop.

Fixed where it sits, or brought into the shop.
Being in Red Deer means a repair does not have to happen in a parking lot. Where it makes sense, a unit can come to the bench. Where it cannot move, the bench comes to it.
On site
For a standby set bolted to a pad, a unit that cannot be moved without disconnecting a building, or a fault that only shows under the real load. A technician comes to the generator and diagnoses it where it runs.
In the shop
For trailer-mounted and skid units that can be brought to Queensgate Cres, and for work that needs lifting gear, bench time or a controlled space, such as major overhauls and rebuilds.
Both
Often the first visit happens on site and the findings decide whether the rest of the job is done there or the unit comes into the shop. The repair scope says which, before the work starts.
Tell us what it did.
A clear description of the failure saves diagnostic time. These are the calls the service desk hears most, and what to have ready for each.
It failed the weekly exercise
Note what the controller showed and whether it cranked at all. A failed exercise run is the cheapest time to find a fault, before a real outage depends on it.
It ran, but the transfer never happened
If the set started and reached speed but the building stayed dark, the problem may sit in the transfer switch, breakers or controls rather than the engine.
It trips when the load comes on
Tell us what was starting at the time: a compressor, a pump, an HVAC unit. Load pickup faults point at fuel delivery, governing, voltage regulation or a site load that has grown.
Leaks, smoke or noise
Coolant or oil on the pad, black or white smoke, or a new knock. Shut it down if it is safe to do so, photograph what you see, and call before running it again.
Have this in hand when you call.
A photo of the nameplate (make, model, serial, kW), a photo of the controller screen with any alarm showing, the engine hours, and when the unit was last serviced. If it is a standby set, say whether the utility is currently on, so the desk knows how exposed the site is.
Same yard
A rental set while yours is down.
If the repair needs parts or shop time, the site does not have to sit without power. The Red Deer rental fleet is in the same yard as the shop, so a temporary set can be quoted with the repair.
Getting it connected may also need power distribution or a rental transfer switch. The connection plan is confirmed for your site before anything is dispatched.
For the rental quote, send:
- The load the temporary set has to carry, in kW or amps.
- Voltage and phase, from the existing generator's nameplate.
- Where it would connect: an existing transfer switch, a panel, or a connection box.
- Whether it runs only during outages or around the clock.
- Where it can be parked, and what fuel is available.
Isolation and connection work must be done by qualified personnel.
When a repair is not the best answer.
An old set with high hours, a third repeat failure, or a building that has outgrown its generator may be better replaced than fixed again. The diagnosis should say so plainly.
If replacement is worth comparing, generators for sale in Red Deer, including the NPI Series built in the same shop, can be quoted beside the repair.
Test it before calling it fixed.
A generator that starts is not proven. Agree the checks before it goes back into service: running under load, voltage and frequency holding steady, and a full transfer if it is a standby set. A load bank can supply the load where the building cannot.
Then planned maintenance keeps the next fault from arriving during an outage.

Red Deer generator repair questions.
Where is your generator repair shop in Red Deer?
The shop and yard are at 77 Queensgate Cres, in Red Deer's Queens Industrial area. Units that can be transported are assessed and repaired there; fixed installations are diagnosed on site. Call (403) 887-4567 before bringing a unit in so the shop can plan for it.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency generator repair in Red Deer?
Yes. Field service answers 24/7 for commercial and industrial generators. Call with the site address and what the generator is doing. Dispatch confirms timing based on the crews' current commitments.
Do you repair generators you did not build or sell?
Yes. NexSource works on other manufacturers' generators as well as its own NPI Series. Send the make, model, serial number and kW rating so the team can confirm parts and support for that unit.
Can you supply a rental generator while mine is being repaired?
Yes. The rental fleet is in the same Red Deer yard, so a temporary set, cable and transfer equipment can be quoted with the repair. Send the load, voltage and how the site connects.
How much does generator repair cost in Red Deer?
Each repair is quoted after diagnosis. The fault, parts, labour hours and whether the work is done on site or in the shop set the price. Any rental cover is quoted as its own line.
Do you repair home or portable generators?
The service team works on commercial and industrial generator systems. For a small portable or residential unit, call first to check whether it is something the shop can take on.
Should I reset the alarm and try again?
Write down or photograph the alarm first. A protective shutdown for low oil pressure, high temperature or overspeed is there for a reason, and repeated resets can turn a small fault into a large one. If in doubt, leave it shut down and call.
