Used and surplus gas and diesel sets for producing wells, batteries, service yards and farms across the Pembina field. Each one is sold from Red Deer with its hours on the quote, and can be run on a load bank before you commit.
Only units whose own listing calls them used or new surplus appear here, and the list is rebuilt each time the page loads — a set that sells is gone, a new listing shows up. Open a card for its full specification, and for any hours or overhaul figures the listing gives.

Want every set we sell, new and used? See natural gas generators for sale and diesel generators for sale. Used stock for the whole province, with more on reading hours and overhaul records, is on used generators for sale in Alberta.
Pembina has been producing since the 1950s, and a mature field rewards keeping costs low on equipment that will stay put. These are the purchases that usually follow.
Pembina wells can produce for decades at modest rates, and a rental invoice that runs as long as the well does adds up. A used gas set that burns the lease's own gas, once the analysis clears it, puts the power on the operator's books once instead of every month.
Oilfield production power →Where a battery or a small gas facility runs off the grid or a single set, a second unit that only has to start when the first one stops is a natural place for used equipment. Its hours matter less than whether it starts in February.
Emergency & standby generators →Contractors and service outfits working out of Drayton Valley who keep renting the same size of set for their own jobs. Buying used puts a unit in the yard at a lower entry cost, and the hours you add are the only ones you have to plan around.
Diesel generators for sale →A shop or business in town that cannot sit out an outage, or a farm yard past the end of a strong utility service. A used standby or prime set with a transfer switch can do the job for less than new, when its record checks out.
Agriculture power →Two used units with the same kW rating can be years apart in what they have left. These four questions separate them.
A set that ran prime power on a lease has lived a harder life than one that sat as standby behind a building. Ask what the unit did, how many hours it ran a year and how it was stored between jobs.
Total hours say how hard the unit has been used. Hours since its last major overhaul say how far it is into its current life. You need both, as numbers on the meter, written into the quote.
Used sets were built for someone else's site. Check the voltage and phase on the listing against the panel or the motor nameplates on yours, and ask whether that unit can be reconfigured before you plan around it.
Freeze-up to breakup is most of a Pembina year. Ask what the unit carries for cold starts — block heater, battery and enclosure condition — and plan winter-grade fuel if it is a diesel set.
The new vs. used generator buying guide goes further into hours and overhaul records, and the amperage calculator converts a load list between kW and amps.
Every unit on this page sells from the Red Deer shop, and that is where the questions are cheapest to answer. Raise them in the enquiry, not once the truck is booked.
Ask for the hours and condition in writing on the quote. Ask for a run on a load bank — NexSource sells and rents load banks, so the test fits into the same conversation. If it is a gas set, send the gas analysis so the scrubber and regulation are specified before it leaves.
Then plan how it comes off the truck at the lease: what is on site to lift or winch it, access on the lease road in that season, road bans in spring, and who will be there to receive it. NexSource is COR certified and keeps its standing on ISNetworld, Avetta and ComplyWorks, if the operator asks before a supplier comes on site.

Connecting a generator permanently is electrical work, and a gas set adds gas fitting. Both belong to your licensed contractors, under permits from the authority having jurisdiction — the Town of Drayton Valley within town limits, and Brazeau County or the municipality the land sits in outside them. An operator's lease brings its own rules on top. Involve your contractor early: the transfer switch, the fuel connection and the pad can rule a unit in or out.
A new completion whose decline curve is still a guess, or a workover that may or may not bring a lease back, is a rental until the answer is in. See generator rentals in Drayton Valley for the rental side, and renting vs. buying an industrial generator for where owning starts to pay.
These used listings carry the rent-to-own offer, so rental payments go toward the price if you keep the set:
From NexSource Power in Red Deer, the company's only location. Drayton Valley, Brazeau County and the rest of the Pembina field are served from there. A unit you buy is prepared in the Red Deer shop and goes out to the site once the sale is agreed.
It often is when the lease will keep producing for years and the load is steady. A set that will spend its life on pumpjacks, heaters and instruments does not need to be new to do that well, but it does need to prove itself. Ask for its hours since new and since overhaul in writing, and for a load-bank run near the load it will carry.
That depends on the gas, not the age of the set. Send the analysis: H₂S, liquids and line pressure decide the inlet scrubber and regulation the unit needs and whether the gas suits it at all. If it does, the set runs without fuel deliveries, which is a large part of why gas sets are worth owning on a producing lease.
Ask for it when you first enquire. NexSource rents load banks from the same fleet as these generators, so the unit can be run at something close to your real load rather than started and left to idle. The length of the run, the load and the timing are settled when you ask.
Your own licensed electrical contractor, and a gas fitter for a gas set, under permits from the authority having jurisdiction: the Town of Drayton Valley inside town limits, and outside them Brazeau County or whichever municipality the land is in. On an operator's lease, the operator's own requirements apply as well. We help you choose the set; your contractors connect it.
Many units are offered for rent as well as for sale, so a set can go to work on a rental while you decide. Rent to own is narrower: rental payments count toward the price only on listings marked Rent to Own. The Drayton Valley rentals page covers the rental side.
Send the listing you have in mind, or the load, the voltage, the gas analysis and the legal land location. We will match it to the used stock and come back with a written price for that unit, or tell you straight if nothing listed fits.
