On a remote site every litre of diesel has to be trucked in, along lease roads that close for breakup and drift in over winter. When a lease produces gas, a set that burns it takes that haul off the schedule for the whole term.
Field or wellhead gas
The cheapest fuel on a producing lease, because it is already there. Liquids content, H₂S and pressure from the gas analysis decide the scrubber and regulation that go on the set.
Utility or line gas
Where a site has a gas service or a tie-in, a gas set draws from it with no deliveries to plan.
Propane
NPI Series sets are dual-fuel on natural gas and propane, so a site without gas can run on propane delivered to the lease.
Diesel
No gas, a short job, or a large motor start that a gas set would struggle with. Paired with bulk fuel storage for longer terms.
The size, the fuel and the length of the rental change as a well moves from the rig to production, so the right package for the pad is rarely the right one for the battery a year later.

It is quoted per job rather than from a rate card. The size of the set, the length of the term, the fuel arrangement, the distribution and heat that go with it, and the distance to the lease all change the number. Often, yes. Send the gas analysis with the enquiry: liquids, H₂S and supply pressure decide whether the gas is usable as it is and which scrubber and regulator the set needs. Once it is running on lease gas, the fuel truck comes off the schedule for as long as the rental lasts.
Whatever its connected load says, with room for the largest motor to start. List the pumpjack motors, heaters, instrumentation and controls, with nameplate ratings where you have them, and the set is sized from that list. Undersizing trips the set on a motor start; oversizing leaves an engine running lightly loaded for months, which does it no good either.
That depends on which units are free when you call, how far the lease is from Red Deer and what the access is like at that time of year, so it is confirmed when the quote is written rather than promised up front. The more of the load list, location and fuel details come with the first call, the less back and forth there is before a unit goes out.
