Generators are not everything on the yard — the full rental catalogue also covers load banks, flameless heaters, fuel tanks and distribution gear.

Natural gas & propane

Most of what goes out on rent here. Where there is gas at the site, it is usually the cheaper and simpler answer — no fuel haulage, no spill containment, no tank to keep full through a winter.

Natural gas generators

Diesel

For sites with no gas, for standby duty where the set sits idle until it is needed, and for short jobs where running a fuel line is not worth it. Sound-attenuated and skid- or trailer-mounted.

Diesel generators

What goes with it

Load banks for commissioning and acceptance testing, transfer switches, distribution panels, fuel tanks and flameless heat. A generator on its own rarely finishes a job.

Load banks
Why gas, here

Alberta is why the fleet leans gas.

In most provinces a rental fleet is mostly diesel. Here it is not, and the reason is underfoot: on a producing lease there is often gas at the site already, and a set that runs on it stops the fuel-haulage problem before it starts. No truck up the lease road every few days, no tank to keep full at minus thirty, no spill plan for a fuel bowser sitting in muskeg.

It is not automatic. Field gas varies — H₂S, liquids, heating value, pressure — and the fuel train and inlet scrubber get sized against what the gas actually analyses at, not against an assumption. That is a conversation, not a checkbox, which is why the quote asks for the analysis.

Where there is no gas, diesel is the right answer and the fleet carries it. The point is not that one fuel wins; it is that in this province the question is worth asking before the unit is picked.

Common questions

Before you call.

How quickly can a generator get to my site?

It depends on the unit, the configuration and where the site is — a standby package going to an industrial yard near Red Deer is a different job from a paralleled set going up a lease road near Grande Prairie. Call the desk with the site and the load and you will get a straight answer rather than a number off a page.

Can the generator run on gas from the wellsite?

Often, yes, and it is the main reason gas dominates our rental fleet in this province. Field gas quality varies, so it is a question of what the gas actually analyses at — that is what the inlet scrubber and the fuel train are sized against. Send the gas analysis with your enquiry and it can be answered properly.

What does a rental include?

The package, the controls and distribution to match it, and field service while it is out. Load-bank testing, fuel tanks, cabling and flameless heat are available with it. Everything is quoted per job — there is no rate card, because a three-week turnaround and a two-year prime-power contract do not price the same way.

Do you rent outside Alberta?

Yes. Alberta is where the yards and the service crews are, which is why this page exists, but rentals go out across Canada. If you are outside the province, say where the site is when you call and the logistics get quoted with the unit.

Can I buy the unit at the end of the rental?

On many units, yes — rent-to-own applies to the NPI Series and to parts of the wider fleet, with rental payments going toward the purchase. It suits a site that needs power now and expects to keep needing it. Ask which units it applies to when you enquire.

Tell us the load and the site.

Send the load list, the site conditions and whatever fuel is available. You get a written quote for the right package — sizing advice costs nothing.
