Emergency power distribution services.
Keep essential equipment powered through an outage. NexSource supplies temporary generators, distribution panels, transfer switches and cabling for facilities and industrial sites across Alberta — with the connection requirements agreed before dispatch.
Backup power needs a complete connection.
A generator produces electricity. Emergency power distribution gets that electricity to the pumps, refrigeration, controls and other equipment your site depends on. The source, connection and circuits need to be planned together.
- 01
Backup source
A rental generator or an existing suitable supply, sized for the essential loads.
- 02
Transfer and distribution
The switching, panels and cable that route power to the selected circuits.
- 03
Essential equipment
The loads you need to keep operating while the normal supply is unavailable.
One package, matched to your site.
Generator rentals
Diesel and natural gas sets sized to the loads that must stay on, including motor starting requirements. If you already have a suitable source, the distribution can be quoted separately.
View generator rentalsDistribution panels
Rental panels from 30 A to 1,200 A, selected for the supply and the circuits being fed. Tell us which loads are essential and where they sit on the site.
View distribution panelsTransfer switches
Automatic or manual transfer equipment, depending on the site's changeover requirements. Existing building transfer equipment may be usable; confirm its rating and connection details when you call.
View distribution and switching equipmentCable, voltage conversion and fuel
Cable runs, any required transformer and fuel arrangements are discussed with the generator package. Distances, access and expected outage duration determine what needs to travel with the equipment.
View rental equipment
Unexpected outage or a planned changeover.
Utility supply lost
Keep selected facility or process loads supplied while the normal power source is unavailable. Start with the equipment that cannot wait for restoration.
Permanent backup unavailable
Bridge a generator repair or replacement with a rental source and compatible distribution. Share the existing switch and connection details before equipment is selected.
Scheduled electrical work
Arrange temporary supply for switchgear work, a service change or a planned utility interruption. Coordinate connection and testing with the shutdown schedule.

Six details help us prepare the right equipment.
Have what you can ready when you call. If a rating or connection detail is unknown, tell the team so it can be confirmed before the package is dispatched.
- Site location and access
- Address, site contact, delivery access and any restrictions.
- Essential loads
- Equipment that must run, nameplate ratings and the largest motors.
- Voltage and connection
- Site voltage, service rating and existing transfer or connection equipment.
- Cable distances
- Distance from the generator position to the panel and critical loads.
- Timing and duration
- When power is needed and how long the temporary supply may stay.
- Electrical contractor
- Who can connect the equipment and coordinate the site changeover.
Agree the connection work before delivery.
Your electrical contractor may connect the temporary equipment, or electrical work may be arranged within the package. Confirm who handles the connection, any required permits, changeover and testing when the quote is prepared.
Emergency power distribution, explained.
What are emergency power distribution services?
They provide a temporary route from a backup power source to the equipment that needs electricity during an outage. A package can include a rental generator, distribution panels, cabling, transfer equipment and a transformer where voltage conversion is needed. The equipment and connection scope are agreed for the site before dispatch.
Can NexSource supply both the generator and the distribution equipment?
Yes. NexSource rents diesel and natural gas generators alongside distribution panels and transfer switches. Cable, any required transformer, fuel arrangements and field support can be discussed as part of the package. The team confirms equipment availability and what is included in the written quote.
How quickly can emergency power equipment reach my site?
Emergency dispatch is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Delivery timing depends on the site location, available equipment, transport and connection requirements. Call (403) 887-4567 with your location and load details so the team can confirm what can be supplied and when.
Who connects the temporary power to the building?
Connection responsibilities are agreed at quote time. The site's electrical contractor may carry out the connection, or electrical work may be arranged as part of the package. Tell NexSource about the existing transfer switch or generator connection point so equipment, site access and any required permits can be coordinated before delivery.
Can I rent distribution equipment for a generator I already have?
Yes. Distribution panels and transfer switches are rental items in their own right. Provide the generator output, site voltage, load list, cable distances and existing connection details so NexSource can quote compatible equipment and confirm availability.
Does this cover planned shutdowns as well as unexpected outages?
Yes. Temporary distribution can support a scheduled utility outage, switchgear work or a period when a permanent backup generator is unavailable. Sharing the shutdown date in advance allows the generator, distribution equipment, connection work and testing to be coordinated before power is interrupted.
