Natural gas and diesel generators for sale, from 25 kW to 1.9 MW, for leases, camps, shops and buildings in Fort McMurray and across Wood Buffalo. Each unit is sold from Red Deer with its specification on the listing, and the price for the set you choose comes in writing.
These are the gas and diesel sets offered for purchase right now. The list is pulled from inventory each time the page opens, so a unit that sells is gone on the next visit. Output, voltage and fuel are on each card; the listing behind it has the full specification and shows whether the set can also be rented or taken on rent-to-own.

To narrow by fuel, see diesel generators for sale or natural gas generators for sale. To compare condition, see used generators for sale. To start from output, see generators by size. Load banks, engines and the rest of what we sell are on Equipment for sale.
Most buyers start with the kilowatts. In Wood Buffalo it is usually one of these four that decides which listing is right, and every one of them is answered by the site, not the generator.
In town, a building may have utility gas at the meter. Out on a lease or a remote project, there may be field gas of uncertain quality, or nothing at all. Settle which before you shortlist: a gas set needs a gas analysis behind it, and a diesel set needs tank capacity sized to how often fuel can reach the site.
Standby cover for a shop and round-the-clock power for a camp are different purchases. Continuous duty is rated below standby, and it brings oil changes and filters round quickly. Check whether the kW on a listing is the prime or the standby figure, and plan how service intervals will be kept that far north.
Winters in the region are long and cold, and a standby set has to start on the morning it is needed, not the morning after. Ask what the specific unit carries for the cold before you buy, and say in the enquiry whether it will sit outdoors or in a building.
Industrial services in Alberta are often 600 V, while many sets are wound for 480 V. Check the voltage on each card against the service, and size for the largest motor starting with everything else running, not just the running total. A mismatch found after delivery means a transformer or a second trip.

Every generator here is sold from our Red Deer location, and the road to Fort McMurray runs through Edmonton and up Highway 63. Over that distance, a question nobody asked turns into a call from a site with a set it cannot use. Answer the questions while the unit is still in the shop.
Get the hours and condition written into the quote. Request a load bank test before the set leaves Red Deer, so you see it carry real kilowatts rather than idle in the yard; we rent and sell load banks, so it can be asked for in the enquiry. Agree how the unit reaches the site and how it comes off the truck: say whether there is a loader or picker on site, any access limits on the lease road, and who will receive it.
Then plan what happens after delivery. Ask which filters and fluids the unit takes, so the first service does not wait on a parts run, and ask what planned maintenance and field service would look like for a set that far north. The guide on why maintenance and local presence matter as much as the spec sheet covers the questions worth asking, and the new vs. used generator buying guide explains what hours and overhauls say about a used set's remaining life.
Hooking a generator permanently into a building or facility is electrical work, and a gas set adds gas-fitting to it. Permits come from the authority having jurisdiction, which in Fort McMurray is generally the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, and the work belongs to your licensed contractors. On an industrial lease, the operator's own electrical and site rules sit on top of that. Talk to your contractor before you choose: the transfer switch, the fuel connection and the clearances around the pad often settle the size and fuel for you.
Northern work often runs to a turnaround, a construction season or a contract term, and owning a set only pays once the load is known to stay. If the length of the job or the size of the load is still uncertain, rent first and buy once the numbers settle. Our generator rentals for Fort McMurray cover the rental side, and renting vs. buying an industrial generator shows where the costs usually cross over.
These units carry the rent-to-own offer, so rental payments count toward the purchase if you keep the set:
No. NexSource Power has one location, in Red Deer, and the generators listed on this page are sold from there. Fort McMurray and the communities around it in Wood Buffalo are an area we serve; there is no branch, yard or showroom in the region.
Prices are not published. Hours, condition, voltage, enclosure and controls all move the figure for two sets with the same rating, and getting the unit to a northern site is its own line on the quote. Pick a listing, or send the load and the site details, and we will price that set in writing. Call (403) 887-4567 to start.
It depends on what is at the site. A lease with usable gas can feed a gas set and take fuel hauling off the schedule, but the gas analysis decides that: liquids, H₂S and pressure set the scrubber and regulation the set needs. A site with no gas, or a set that will move between jobs, usually means diesel with its own tank. The fuel line on every card says what the unit runs on.
Buy it for the cold rather than hoping it copes. Tell us the coldest temperature the site will see and whether the set will sit outside. NPI Series packages can be specified with a winter package that adds a block heater and a speed-controlled fan; for any other listing, ask what that particular unit carries for cold starting, and for a diesel set, how it will be fuelled through the winter.
Installation is not part of what we quote here. A permanent connection is electrical work, plus gas-fitting for a gas set, so your licensed contractors do it under the permits the authority having jurisdiction requires. In Fort McMurray that is generally the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo; on an industrial lease, the operator's own requirements apply as well. We help you choose the set; your contractor connects it.
Yes. Much of the fleet is offered both ways; if a card shows a rental badge, that set can be hired before you commit to it. Rent-to-own is narrower: rental payments only count toward the price on listings marked Rent to Own. Our Fort McMurray rental page covers the rental side.
Send the listing you are looking at, or the load, voltage, fuel on site, duty and where the set will be installed. We will match it to the stock and send a written price for the set that suits, or say so honestly if none of it does.
